This one starts off with a summery groove from the deep 70s catalog of the CTI label, followed by a 90s chillout classic. I’m very pleased that I finally worked some Duke Ellington into a mix! The 2010s are represented by three of my current favorites, Beach House, Empire of the Sun, and The xx. The closing track, from 1981 but unreleased until recently, is just another reminder of the brilliance of Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards. Of course it’s a pleasure to hear Johnny Mathis’ voice in any setting. As the song is ending, you’ll hear him holding a note for almost half a minute without fading a bit!
